About Safe Kids

Safe Kids  St. Joseph County is a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to fighting the number one killer and disabler of children - easily preventable injuries. Each year, more than 6,000 children ages 14 and under die from unintentional injury, and nearly 120,000 are permanently disabled. Children are hurt and killed in traffic as passengers, pedestrians and bicyclists. They also suffer from burns, drowning, poisoning, choking and falls. The greatest tragedy is that most of these injuries can be prevented. Safe Kids St. Joseph County is a local network of organizations whose purpose is to prevent accidental childhood injury through education and increased awareness.
