Safe Kids of St. Joseph County is unique in our ability to communicate prevention messages directly to kids and their families through our comprehensive national programs.These programs, involving media events, device distribution and hands-on educational activities for kids and their families, aim to get communities across the country more involved in the safety of their children.
Walk this Way
On October 4, 2006, more than 252,000 children, parents, teachers, city officials and others joined FedEx Express employees and Safe Kids coalitions to celebrate safe walking at more than 540 schools across the United States.For more information please visit: Walk this Way
Buckle Up
Safe Kids Buckle Up is Safe Kids Worldwide’s child passenger safety program. Since 1996, the General Motors Corporation has served as Safe Kids Buckle Up's exclusive funding source and helped build Safe Kids Buckle Up into a multifaceted national initiative, bringing motor vehicle safety messages to children and families through community and dealer partnerships.Learn more about the program Safe Kids Buckle Up
Fire Safety
The theme of this year's Fire Prevention Week is "Practice Your Escape Plan!."
Families should not only create an escape plan, but everyone must PRACTICE the plan together.
According to a poll by the National Fire Protection Association, the majority of Americans have a fire escape plan, but most haven't practiced it.
From October 7-13, fire safety
advocates will be spreading the word that when it comes to escape plans,
practice is key.
